My country can no longer be described as
A leader, a refuge, an innovator.
Our country has become authoritarian.
Being led, now, by a dictator.
He doesn’t care about
Laws or our Constitution
Bulldozing through, tossing all that aside
Like it’s nothing more than seasonal pollution.
Our government seems muzzled.
Checks and balances disregarded.
While the president pretends,
This country is just another business he’s started.
Lining his pockets with gold.
Tossing nuggets out to those who bow and praise.
Slamming doors on critics
Pushing the poor and needy out of the way.
My country, my flag.
Stolen in broad daylight.
MAGA runs through the streets
Grabbing our history, jeering with delight.
Make way for the parade and our mighty leader.
You’d better cheer!
He’ll throw out candy if you’re good.
Stand as he passes. Show a little respectful fear.
Ooo and ahh
As the gold passes by.
That’s what makes him feel powerful.
See that glimmer in his eye?
You want some?
You want to be part of his motorcade?
You want to be rich, too?
Follow him. You’ll be paid.
If not
Shut up!
Get out of the way.
Oh, say, can you see, by the dawn’s early light.
What so proudly we hail’d at the twilight’s last gleaming.
Whose broad stripe and bright stars through the perilous fight
O’er the ramparts we watch’d were so gallantly streaming?
And the rockets red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.
Oh say does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave.
